Country Studies

Last week we started country studies. We all had a country to research about, I researched about Thailand. Thailand is a Southeast Asian Country. Thailand also has a continent on it. It's know for tropical beaches, royal palaces, ancient ruins and figures of Buddha. One of the popular locations in Thailand are Phi Phi Islands. When you go to Phi Phi Islands you can swim and enjoy the hot sun. Phi Phi Islands is a island group in Thailand. That is where most of the tourists go and travel when they go to Thailand. The neighboring countries are Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. This year Thailand expects 37.55 million people to travel to Thailand. Some of there popular foods in Thailand is Tom Yum. In Thailand they wear clothes such as t-shirts, tops, shorts, pants and skirts. The cultural clothing in Thailand is Chut Thai which can be worn by men and women. Schooling in Thailand is not that long. Education is 6 years of elementary and 3 years of lower secondary, so basically it's 9 years of basic education. In 2016 there was a civil war in Thailand and more than 6,000 people died. Thailand is a great country to research about because of all the things that you'll learn from it's history.

Samoan Languagae Week

Samoan Language Week

Last week it was Samoan language week and we learned about the history and stories that happened in Samoa. Mr Fa'alili came to our class during that week and talked to us about what he did when he was in Samoa. When he finished talking we were told that we were going to have a Umu. A umu is a samoan way of cooking food in the ground. So the next we watched a video of how to make a umu. On Friday after the assembly some people went with Miss Tupou and Mr Fa'alili to help with the Umu. So while they were away we just finished off work that needed to be finish. They came back in the last block and we were told to go and eat. Room 12 were lucky because they ate with us too. After they we played outside then we went back to class. Soon as we got to class the home bell rung and so everyone went home. Some people were lucky they could take there leftovers home. I had a great week!
