Math's Workshop

Math's Workshop

Yesterday we had a math's workshop. It was for the students that wanted to learn about equal addition. There were 4 students Lucky, Polu, Lesieli and myself. Equal addition is turning one number into a tidy number. For example 73 - 27 you add a number to the 27 to make a tidy number then you add the same number to 73 then it becomes 76 - 30 which is 46. Our Success Criteria was add the same number to both numbers and round a number to a tidy number. We struggled a bit then we got the hang of it. We all got to answer a equation. Here are our results from our math's workshop.

Play based learning

Play base Learning

Today in the middle block we did play base learning. My thoughts about play based learning are that play based learning is a great thing for the people that don't really express themselves in class and gives them a chance to communicate with the people they never talk to. It also gives students a chance to express their imaginations and etc. I think that play based learning is fun because you just get to play. The only thing is that play based learning doesn't include devices such as Chromebooks and etc. What i'd like to do is to do crafting, drawing and to make things. I think the purpose of play based learning is to communicate with your class and to express your imagination. Next week for play based learning I would like to draw, play board games, do crafting and etc. Some ways we can make play based learning better is to add more activities for us to do. The learning that is involved in play based learning is that your playing and learning something at the same time. I don't mean the teacher is teaching I mean that your learning something while your playing with the things around you.

Graphs

Graphs

Last week in our math groups we made graphs. We had to measure different heights, widths and and lengths of the people in our class. Our group measured the waist of the people in our class. It was hard measuring because everyone was measuring at the same time. These are the results that we got. Graphs

Dawn Raids

Dawn Raids

Dawn raids started in the mid 1970's to the early 1980's. The people that were involved in the dawn raids were the police and the pacific islanders. In New Zealand in the 1900's there was a thing called dawn raids. What happened was early at dawn the police would search the the houses for islanders that were over stayers and take them to a place where they had to wait before they were sent back to there homeland. It happened because there was a allowance that they could only stay for 3 months but they decided to stay because they were getting paid more than they were in the islands. I think that the white people were racist because they weren't familiar with the kind of people they were. I think that the white people feel devastated of what they did back then. They also probably feel guttered because they raided the Islanders. They must think we're nice now that they've actually met us. Dawn Raids
